(circa 477-388 BC)  Infant Heracles (Baby Hercules??) on all fours to left; above, head
of seal right/Rev: Quadripartite incuse square. (Bodenstedt--)  The identification of this pudgy
baby boy as the hero Heracles on this unrecorded hecte is based on a similar composition on
coins of Croton, Thebes and Cyzicus showing the infant Hercules clutching two serpents,
a scene from mythology.  EXTREMELY RARE, one of only four or five known specimens!

with horseman motif/Rev: Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross in right hand,
star in right field.  Well struck and fully lustrous!

ANCIENT BYZANTINE EMPIRE-gold semissis  ND  Constans II Pogonatus (641-668 AD)
FR. 114 (Sear-983)  Diademed and draped bust right/Rev: Cross potent on globe.  Struck at
Constantinople.  NGC notes that this coin is possibly Constantine IV (who struck a nearly
identical semissis - Sear 1161).  This specimen is an unusually sharp example, crisply struck
and lustrous, with complete legends and a detailed bust.
